Today was my third and last cooking with Hello Fresh day. For now. So far I have tried Crispy Parmesan Chicken and Figgy Balsamic Pork. Today I cooked Melty Monterey Jack Burgers, 2 of them. They came with made from scratch red onion jam, garlic mayo, and crispy breaded zucchini.
I have to admit that this meal, while still good, was my least favorite.
It might have something to do with the fact that I am never crazy about burgers or that I was tired this evening, but yes, I prefer the other two meals over this one.

As I mentioned in my previous reviews I have been thinking about some type of diet for a while now, but did not enjoy Nutrisystem or Medifast ready-to-eat microwavable meals.
I received Hello Fresh coupon with my Winter FabFitFun subscription box and decided to give it a try because I have heard about them before. The coupon code was for $90 and I definitely applied it.
I ordered 3 meals for 2 people as my husband was in NYC last week and I wanted to share the meals with my two kids who do not enjoy eating.
I made two meals last week and one tonight for me and my husband.
The burgers had more calories than the previous two creations – a whopping 910! Again, I choose to believe that each is 455, not 910. Otherwise all my morning boot camp and evening yoga will be for nothing. Even though for the record I didn’t finish my whole burger, so I think I am good. Who needs extra overeating between Thanksgiving and Christmas?
This cooking session was relaxed and not lengthy, just like the previous two. This is the best part about cooking Hello Fresh recipes – you have all the ingredients and all the steps prepared, all you have to do is follow, possibly with a glass of wine, which I didn’t enjoy today as I was planning to go to yoga after serving my family their dinner.
Preparation took about 10 minutes, as expected, cooking – 35-40. Besides my own baking dish and a couple of bowls, I also had to supply my own salt, pepper, and olive oil, which I don’t mind at all. The entire process went smooth and without incidents until the very end.
First, I sort of undercooked beef patties. I cooked them longer than the recipe called for and on medium heat, but they came out a bit on the raw side.
Since they had cheese melted on them, there was no good way to cook them more without burning the cheese. Thankfully both of us enjoy our steak done medium, so this was fine.
I think the recipe should allocate more time for this step or explain about different temperatures of cooking the meat for people to choose from.
Second little problem was my toaster. We don’t use it very often, only for toasting bagels one morning per week, so I didn’t realize that the temperature for bagels won’t work for potato buns and I kind of burned them a little bit, just the edges.
This, however, I don’t blame on the recipe. I should’ve been more knowledgeable about my own toaster.
When the burgers and oven roasted zucchini were ready and arranged on the plate, they looked picture perfect. And yes, I took some pictures for my mom, my sister, and Instagram to see.
I am grateful to FabFitFun for the coupon they sent and to Hello Fresh for opening my eyes and taste buds for new flavors. I need this from time to time to spoil my family with something new. I stick to my time-tested staples, which are good, but a little bit of variety never hurt anyone. I am pretty sure I will be ordering more after the New Year to get back on track with my eating habits, especially in the evenings, and to save time by not going to the grocery store quite so often. See you soon, Hello Fresh!
