Here goes another happy Hello Fresh meal kit delivery service review. As I mentioned in the first one, I am concern about my diet during holidays and shortage of time for shopping, so thanks to Hello Fresh coupon from FabFitFun, I am giving this service a try.
I ordered 3 meals for two people because my husband is away for a week, so such portion is plenty for me and my two kids who never seem to be hungry.
This review is a follow up to my first one, which I wrote just yesterday, after cooking my first meal, Crispy Parmesan Chicken, which was amazing.
Today on the menu was Figgy Balsamic Pork.
I am happy to say that despite sitting in my refrigerator for 5 days, all the produce ingredients were fresh and firm, even the pre-washed greens, which I was a bit concerned about.
Prepping everything was really a breeze, especially because there was no lemon zesting without zester included, like with the previous recipe.

It took me ten minutes to get everything ready, cut up, and chopped. The cooking time was even shorter than last time, about 30 minutes.
Calories are listed as 570, but again, it is not clear if it is for both portions separately or together.
If it’s 285 per portion, then I am on a great path, because evenings are the time when I like to overeat.
Besides provided ingredients I had to have 2 baking sheets, 1 large pan, 1 bowl, olive oil, butter, salt, and pepper – nothing out of the ordinary.
I love the fact that Hello Fresh is mindful about packaging and try to use as little plastic as possible, at least that’s what it seems like.
The box in which all the kits arrived was fully recyclable, bags with produce were made of paper, plastic bottles that condiments came in were recyclable, and the plastic bags that some ingredients were packed in could be taken to recycle to my closest supermarket.
If I would compost (which is my failed dream), there would be very little waste left.
I am not a big lover of cooking, but it is actually easy to follow these step-by-step directions and I feel very fancy making meals that I normally wouldn’t.
Let’s just say I don’t experiment in the kitchen and like to stick to my staples, so this experience was definitely refreshing.
The finished meal consisted of roasted pork with sweet and tangy sauce, rosted rosemary potatoes, and tossed green salad with lemon juice and oil. I don’t always like sweet sauce on my meats, but have to admit that this combination was delightful.
My kids being their usual selves did not go crazy about this meal, even though my 7 year old son ate all his meat, with sauce and all.
The 9 year old princess picked a bit on everything and was done.
I had my dinner there too and we also left some food for my husband who is flying home tonight, in case he comes back hungry.
So again, the portion for two can definitely feed two adults or one adult and two kids, and sometimes even the entire family of four if nobody is crazy hungry.
I think that $21, which I paid for all three meals together, was one good investment.
I wish the ingredients could be organic, at least some of them, but I do realize that such option would raise the price significantly. However I hope Hello Fresh adds this option in the future as more and more people are becoming mindful eaters.
I have one more meal left for Sunday – Melty Monterey Jack Burgers and am definitely looking forward to that. Once all this delivery is consumed, I am sure there will be others for our family, because I really enjoyed the experience of cooking by following those simple recipes.
