If you are anything like me, you probably have never heard of this men’s fashion retailer from New Zealand, most likely because they are not very cheap and not readily available everywhere you go. Once you open their website, you immediately see rugged New Zealand landscape in pictures and equally rugged good looking models wearing rustic but elegant shirts, pants, and jackets.

Rodd & Gunn is all about high quality of every piece of clothing they sell with design inspired by New Zealand’s mountains and lakes. The first company store was opened in 1987, but the brand has been known since 1946. All this time to this day the style remained classic and universal with modern and changing with time elements.

People who buy from Rodd & Gunn most likely live a life of wealth, relaxation, unity with nature, and high standards they follow themselves and expect from others. Styles of men’s fashion at Rodd & Gunn change with every season, but what remains constant is quality, luxurious materials, and attention to detail.

I browsed their selection online for a while and decided that I can see my husband in every one of their products. He loves clothes that last for a long time because he never throws anything away. The problem we run into is that most of his clothes are worn out and thus should’ve been retired long ago. I imagine wearing out like that wouldn’t happen with Rodd & Gunn merchandise.

I also wanted to find out where I could shop and see clothes in person, to touch them before spending the money without having to go to New Zealand. It turns out the retailer has stores in almost every state, with plenty in California, the closest to me being in Fashion Island in Newport Beach, which I visited right away. I travel for Georgia frequently and saw that there is one store in Atlanta, in case I decide to buy my husband a gift to bring home.

The stores are designed to feel like lodges somewhere in the wild, with wooden interior and a bar outside. Once you walk in, you are greeted with New Zealand-like atmosphere and tranquility. It’s not too many people even during great sales, like the current Winter Sale. The sale is amazing and works online and in stores – you can get 25% off all sales styles. I can’t imagine a better time to shop at Rodd & Gunn than now! There are some ongoing deals from time to time, but few match Winter Sale prices.

What catches my eyes the most are classic polos, long sleeve shirts, and jackets. I know I can easily find what my husband likes and make him a surprise that he won’t forget for a long time. Pants and jeans look amazing on the models too, but I would be afraid to buy them without my husband trying them first.

I like the fact that the store is not ginormous like Macy’s and Nordstrom, where one can get lost for hours. At Rodd & Gunn there are designated areas for shirts, sweaters, Italian leather shoes, polo shirts, jackets, outwear, and accessories. I love the fact that I can find everything I need without walking too much. There are New Zealand pictures on the walls to complete the atmosphere and give the store distinguished character.

I have been a longtime lover of Macy’s and Nordstrom. I will still remain their customer, even after discovering Rodd & Gunn, but I am happy to have found something new for my husband, whom I do all the shopping for anyway. He reached the age when Banana Republic and Abercrombie just don’t cut it anymore.

Macy’s has plenty of offers and good deals, but the store is just big and lately, quite empty. Shopping online is great and I do that a lot, but for some reason I always wait for major sales, like Black Friday and Christmas. I know that the retailer is going through tough times and looking for ways to innovate, so I will always support them, but it’s nice to branch out sometimes, especially when I discover something of such quality and style as Rodd & Gunn offers, which is not sold at Macy’s.

Nordstrom is another favorite of mine, but again, it’s big and carries so many different brands and designers that sometimes I get tired just from thinking about shopping for my husband there. I am a loyal customer though and get great savings with points, probably even more than I can at Rodd & Gunn, but for some reason I am tempted to look for something new. Good news about Nordstrom is that you can find some Rodd & Gunn merchandise there. The selection is definitely smaller than I saw at the Rodd & Gunn store, but it’s better than nothing. To my surprise, there were sales on some items too, and quite significant, up to 50%, but it was not as large as the Winter Sale event. I think it’s probably last season’s collection, but everything was new to me and I liked those discounted prices.

Neiman Marcus is another high end retailer where you can find some Rodd & Gunn clothes, but more expensive than at Nordstrom, with even fewer sales. Some pants and shirts were on sale, about ½ off, but I would say that only about 20% off all selection featured those discounts.

So the best place to buy Rodd & Gunn products is at their stores or online. I love that everything you buy online is always shipped for free and returns are also free. Every piece of clothing has 2 year warranty, which is very good in retail world. I enjoyed their size guide and how easy to use it was. Finally, store employees were knowledgeable and extremely helpful, which I kind of expected from a retailer like that.

All in all, I am very happy finding Rodd & Gunn and helping my husband look good. After all, he has to be presentable next to me and for me, right?

Most of us understand the draw and the hold Costco has on people. It’s those huge packages, good prices, free samples, and that rotisserie chicken that has us coming back for more. There is one obstacle though – you need to have a membership to shop there. You can also tag along a friend, who is a member, but how convenient is that?
The best solution for this Costco shopping problem is Instacart. Yes, the company can and will go to Costco for you. They will cover the membership for you and deliver all for just $5.99 delivery fee. This small fee can get you those Margaritas, huge bottles of conditioner, and boxes of fruit to keep you at home and happy during the COVID-19 pandemic. No promise on paper products though, as all grocers are still struggling to get those supplies in stores.
Instacart is not available everywhere, but it is working in all major metropolitan areas. If you live where it is available, there are still a few things to keep in mind. While the $5.99 fee is not a very big deal, if you desire to shop at Costco once a month or more often, it will add up, so getting Costco membership will make a better financial sense. Costco membership is $55 per year, thus spending over $366 per year will justify your membership completely. $366 is what you need to spend to have your 2% cash back cover the $55 membership fee.

Instacart is also charging 15% on store prices, at least on some items, so you have to calculate that in as well. Given all this info, if you just want to buy something at Costco once in 6 months, Instacart might be a good option. Otherwise, get the membership. Trust us – it’s hard to leave Costco without spending $300 each time, let alone per year.
Instacart is offering membership too for $149 year. This would give you free deliveries, but they will still charge 15% extra for some products. This option is great for some people who live alone, in small places without much storage space, and want to load up on non-perishables just a few times a year, without worrying about paying Costco membership.
If you are interested in Instacart delivery from Costco, here are a few useful facts:

Aldi is going toe to toe with Walmart for the lowest grocery prices and that should tell a lot already.

Coupons are not big at Aldi, but thrifty shopping is fully on there as long as you know what to expect and how to go about meeting your budget. Let us help you:
This section is where some of the best deals hide and go pretty fast. Visit it on Wednesday or Sunday mornings, right after restocking.

Yes, sorry coupons clippers! Aldi has plenty of amazing prices without them.

Aldi doesn’t have baggers or free bags, so bring your own bags and be ready to bag stuff yourself. You will feel like a European and will save some money in the process. Aldi charges 5-10 cents per paper or plastic bag.
Wednesday is the day for raw meat shopping at Aldi because they beat Walmart prices by 20%-50%.

You’ll need a quarter to get a shopping cart, but you will get it back once returned. Not hiring a shopping cart policeman is one other way for Aldi to pass savings onto you.

When you can’t use coupons at Aldi, cash back apps like Checkout51 or Fetch Rewards are the next best thing.

There are no coupons on the app, but it’s a convenient tool to have and check out weekly deals on the go.
With this program you will get a replacement and a refund for something you are not 100% happy with. This deal applies for Aldi brands only.
This might not be for everyone, but if you are serious about savings, try it. Aldi starts discounting bakery items 5 days before expiration and offers 50% off 2 days before.

Always shop in store yourself, unless you can take advantage of delivery promotion, such as Instacart free trial. Otherwise it costs $5.99 per delivery or $95 per year.

Aldi should be your first place for that because scarecrows, wine advent calendars, cheese advent calendars, and German Christmas cookies, vegetables & fruits are ridiculously cheap.
What you see is what you get – Aldi is keeping it simple.

Everybody is in the same boat, no preferences for anybody.

Check out this section for best deals on last season items.
Check out Amazon and Target for those because while Aldi is not expensive, best deals for toothbrushes are elsewhere.
Check out Raise or Gift Card Granny for discounted gift cards and save right of the top.
If you are in the market for these, Aldi has Little Journey diapers and wipes for unbeatable prices and quality.
Some amazing wines can be had there for $2.99 per bottle. Not all Aldi stores sell alcohol though.
While name brands are hard to come by at Aldi, when you find them, they will be cheaper than everywhere else.

You can save a lot on produce and even beat Walmart prices, but according to some customers the produce is not always the best.
Aldi’s gluten-free brand Live G-Free is cheaper than products at Walmart and even Trader Joe’s.
We all need them every day and they are a steal at Aldi.
They are owned by brothers, but other than that there is nothing in common.
Aldi is not open late to cut costs, so be done with your shopping by 8 pm.

This is another cost cutting strategy and more money in your pocket.

Aldi post their weekly deals online or you can grab a newsletter on your way into the store and see what’s on sale that day.
Aldi cereal is $2 per huge box and they taste amazing.
Egg price at Aldi is virtually impossible to beat – $1 per dozen. Stock up on them for all your family’s egg needs.
Again, grab milk and you will save more than 30% when compared with anywhere else.
Center isle is always full of surprising deals, and they are different every week.
The store always has cheap seasonal plants, like orchids, mums, herbs, cut flowers, succulents, and more for $4 each. Beat that!

Organic meat selection is great for such a small store and the prices are better than anywhere else, so stock up on that when you can.
Party people love this huge cheesecake that is divided by flavors and costs just $8.
Cheese of all shapes and sizes is available and cheap at Aldi – blocks, shredded, cut, sticks, and cracker cuts.
Most canned fruits and vegetables are as little as $0.50 or even less, so get them for all those family dinners and treats.

For just a few dollars you can try various foods from all around the world – cheeses, desserts, sauces, and snacks.
All the delicious treats are $1-$1.50 each – think bread, sandwich rolls, flat breads, and croissants.

People from all walks of life can get what they need – Fit and Active line, low sodium foods, GMO-free products, and gluten-free lines are available and cheap.
Right before you check out and while waiting in line you can find some incredibly cheap seasonal offers like cookies or pencils for back-to-school.
You should definitely join their mailing list and get those rare coupons sent to you. You can get $5 off $20 and then you can get a lot for $5 at Aldi!

This is one more way to stay in the know about new products and upcoming sales.

There are plenty of grocery stores and chains in and around Los Angeles. If finding one you like the most is not complicated enough, try reading some discounts and weekly sales flyers. They all are a doozy and can make you more confused than happily saving. It seems that all those complicated networks and webs of coupons and discounts are that way on purpose – to make sure we can never ever take advantage of all of them. And of course we can’t because they have too many limitations, requirements, and they also change all the time, which requires new studying every week.
Most of the stores feature their own coupons, accept manufacturer coupons, offer loyalty program deals, manage club cards, enroll you in contests, and have various savings deals, like buy one, get one ½ off. We are here to help you make sense of those various promotions and find the best methods of savings that would work for you.

All the stores are guilty when it comes to complicated and confusing flyers, but Albertsons, Ralphs, and Vons/Pavilions take the cake. They frequently have mix& match deals, but only for select groups of items and if you use store loyalty card. There are also frequent contests for cash prizes and trips, which we have heard of anybody actually winning. There are dollar amounts to be saved when you buy two items of select cosmetic brands and similar deals like that. You can also get free movie tickets when your shopping cart reaches some amount, but you have to use the store card and shop select brands only. Finally, you can often save 30% off wine and spirits, but only when you buy 6 bottles of them. And why would you need six bottles at a time, unless you are hosting a pool party.
Sounds complicated yet? Granted, you probably don’t need to worry about getting every deal at every grocery store, but savings are there for a reason and your reason is to save as much as possible. The best way to go about it is figure out what works best where and proceed with that.
Let’s talk about each grocery store individually and how to get best deals there, shall we?
To take advantage of various confusing offers you have to have their Preferred Savings Card. It’s free to acquire and is tied to your phone number, so you will never forget it. The store does not allow coupon stacking, but will accept manufacturer coupons. Once in a while you will receive some coupons if you have their Preferred Savings Card, so yes, get it.

This store is striving to be less confusing. They offer sales prices to all customers, no loyalty card needed. They also mail coupons to nearby addresses. Sometimes the coupon offer can be $5 off $25 and it’s not found in the store flyer. You should go to the customer service and ask to be put on a mailing list if you want to enjoy discounts like that.
Same as at Albertsons, you will need the rewards card to be eligible for deals and sales. The store accepts manufacturer coupons, but does not allow stacking. Sometimes the store has a temporary agreement with Shell gas stations and offers customers fuel points for shopping. There are always deals with rewards card and special coupons get sent to customers’ homes based on their shopping patterns.

This one is easy – there is no loyalty card and coupons are offered on their social media pages, so you should follow them there. They also accept manufacturer coupons. The best time to shop there is Wednesdays when customers get deals from last week and this week, so double the goodness.

The retail giant accepts manufacturer coupons and runs its own deals sometimes, such as buy a lot and get something for free. You can find those deals in Sunday paper or store flyer. Target credit card owners get 5% off every order.

This is as simple as it gets – no loyalty card, no store coupons, no points, and no sales. The prices are low already and the merchandise gets switched around all the time. They do accept manufacturer coupons. There is no weekly flyer, but customers get Fearless Flyer newsletter in the mail.

Customers have to have a store club card to get deals. It’s free and can be accessed with the phone number. The coupons can be stacked as long as the amount is less than $1. Vons/ Pavilions send weekly fliers with coupons for clipping.

The store doesn’t offer weekly fliers, but you will find sales and discounted items at the beginning of the store. There is also a coupon book that comes out six times per year and is called “The Whole Deal!”. You can find it by the registers. The store also offers online coupons that can be printed for use in-store. Whole Foods accepts manufacturers’ coupons, so try to find them before your shopping trip.

The credit card is issued by TJ Maxx stores with Synchrony Bank and can offer some great bonuses for frequent TJ Maxx shoppers. Most other credit cards don’t offer bonus percentage at discount retailers, like TJ Maxx, so this card is great for all bargain shopping at TJ Maxx affiliates and stores.

If you are a frequent patron at any of those stores, this card is superb with its 5% cash back based on point system, but it also has lots of shortcomings for shopping everywhere else. If you are considering this credit card, you have to really think about your spending patterns and financial responsibility before you apply for it. Read on to find some useful information that might help you make up your mind:
It’s a MasterCard, so virtually anywhere, but if not used at TJ Maxx stores, it loses its value. The rewards come slowly in those cases, so you won’t get much to redeem.

There are quite a few good ones:
• 5 points for every $1 spent in-stores or online at TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Home Goods, Sierra, and Homesense, which makes 5%
• 1 point for every $1 spend everywhere else
• $10 rewards certificate for every 1,000 points
• A great amount of rewards can be scored with this card if you spend a good amount of your yearly budget at TJ Maxx
• $0 annual fee

• All other stores and expenditures get only 1 point per $1 spent, so it’s not much use outside of TJ Maxx umbrella stores
• TJX Rewards card can’t compete with traditional cash back credit cards, such as Citi Double Cash back with its 2% on everything
• The best way to go is to have both of those cards and use them appropriately

While it’s great to get 10% off the first time you shop with your new credit card, especially if you are buying something big, this deal won’t make a ton of savings for you. You can get a lot more from some other credit cards – take Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards credit card, which offers $150 cash on $500 purchases made in the first 3 months.

Also keep in mind that if you apply for this card online, your 10% will have to be used online, but you might have to spend money on shipping that can greatly reduce the 10% benefit. If you apply in-store, you will have to shop in-store to be able to use the 10% off bonus.

Yes, all card holders are invited to exclusive shopping events and sales. They can also receive email alerts about new merchandise arriving to all TJ Maxx umbrella stores and get their pick before everybody else.
It’s bad enough to avoid this credit card if you don’t want to pay the card off at the end of every period. There is no introductory APR period either; they hit you right away with 29.24%, which is one of the highest in the industry. Any balance with this kind of APR will kill all your savings. Most other cards offer $0 first year APR and then 16-24% APR, so think very hard if you are really responsible enough to always pay it off or should you consider something else.
