Bloomingdale’s Shopping Tips and Tricks
Bloomingdale’s is not the first department store that comes to mind when we think about bargain shopping. However, even those of us that can afford the likes of Dolce and Gabbana, Chanel, Balenciaga, and Oscar de la Renta, can appreciate saving money when we can. And Bloomingdale’s certainly offers a few ways to save:
Loyallist program
With this program you will be getting points for every dollar spent. Once you reach 5,000 points, you will get $25 gift card. If you have a Bloomingdale’s credit card, you will be earning 3 points for every dollar. All other payment methods will earn you 1 point per dollar.
If you frequent the store and spend over $3,500 per year with the card, you will be upgraded to Top of the List status and will get 4 points for every dollar spent, always free shipping, and your choice of Triple Point Days.
Loyallist members enjoy various special events with double or triple points throughout the year, and can get Power Points, when fixed amounts of points are awarded for some items. Cosmetics and fragrance products are always eligible for double points.
In rare cases Bloomingdale’s offers coupon codes for Loyallist members, so always check for those before buying.
Coupons
Coupons offer the easiest way to save. You can apply them to regular and sales items, or on your total purchase amount. The best place to find coupons is on Bloomingdale’s website’s sales section or on various coupon aggregation sites.
Bloomingdale’s credit card
If you want to maximize your savings at Bloomindale’s, get their credit card. You can choose between store card and American Express – both will give you the same benefits, such as free shipping, bonus points on purchases, and special offers all year long. When you open your new account, you will get 15% off $250+ purchase on that day or the next day.
Friends and Family sale
You can enjoy this sale a few times per year both in-store and online. The most common discounts are 20% fashion items for all and 10% off luggage, electronics, and dinnerware. Some brands might be excluded, but there are always plenty of back-to-school, spring, and fall collections to be discounted.
Sales section
Sales section is pretty nice on Bloomingdale’s website, so don’t forget to check it out. You can find great deals on shoes, kitchen essentials, fashion, free shipping, and new product special pricing deals. Gifts with purchases and extra points are also often available.
bWallet app
If you will link this app with your Loyallist account, you will be getting points for all your in-app purchases and will be able to track everything. The app can help you save by showing you what offers are best value. You can store your credit, debit, or Rewards card to access any method of payment you want easily.
Price matching
There is no official price matching policy at Bloomingdale’s, but you might get lucky at your store. If you bring the proof, some managers might be nice enough and adjust the price.
If price adjustment is not available, ask nicely if they have coupons for anything in your order. This might prove an even better deal than price matching.
Give Pink, Get More Program
This program works in October of each year. You have to pay $15 with your credit card to join. 100% of this fee is donated to support research and awareness programs for breast cancer.
Once you’ve enrolled, all your purchases will be rewarded with gift cards. You will get your gift card in late November.
- $25 for $250-500
- $50 for $500-750
- $75 for $750-1,000
- $100 for $1,000-2,500
- $250 for $2,500+
Price adjustment
If you see that something you recently bought went down in price, you can submit a request for price adjustment as long as it’s less than 10 days after the purchase. The same method works for a coupon that came after you bought something. The difference will be refunded back to your payment method.
Email alerts
You can get 10% off your next order when you sign up for free email alerts. Emails will help you stay up to date not just with latest trends and fashion, but also find out about sales, special discounts, exclusive offers, and get fashion advice.
Text CODE to 25666 and sign up for free text alerts, which will also give you 10% your next order online or in-store.
Discount gift cards
Check out Cardpool or Gift Card Granny for Bloomingdale’s gift cards that can be up to 10% off. The cards can be electronic or physical and don’t have any expiration dates or fees.
Store locator
Store locator is on the Bloomingdale’s website and will help you find out about local sales events and promotions. In your store you can filter the events by date or by theme, like fashion or beauty.
Gift registry
Bllomingdale’s loves weddings. When you register with them, you will receive 10% off all the unpurchased gifts and special offers up to 6 months past your event. If you end up spending over $500 on the remaining registry items, you will be awarded $100 “splurge card” and free monogramming.
You can also get 20% off women’s dresses, fine jewelry, intimates, and 10% off luggage. These discounts are good for a year after opening the registry.
Bloomingdale’s has official partners that hold special in-store events from time to time. This is when you can get special pricing on your honeymoon or wedding destination with The Travel Siblings, which are Bloomingdale’s official travel concierge.
